BEYOND FORM/DANCING WITH COLOR
The images below move beyond the familiar line of form and detail into a dynamic interpretation of that form.
In some cases, working in low light with a wide aperture, I follow my instincts—moving camera and lens to tease out the spirit or nature of things (ICM: Intentional Camera Movement). It feels like passing from the light of day into moonlight: at times unexpected and emotionally powerful. This approach draws me more deeply into the magic of nature, where I feel most at home.
More recent work extends my ICM imagery by exploring combinations of photographic and digital techniques. I create combinatory, abstract images by layering and blending multiple photographs, allowing chance and intuition to guide my process. My aim is to create a relationship—or narrative—between two or more images, giving birth to a third thing that can appear in remarkable and surprising ways.
